Invitation for Responses to Request for Information for Central Oasis Project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Monday) invited interested parties to respond to request for information for the Central Oasis project. Information collected will be used to facilitate the future invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) for the project. Relevant ideas and comments received from the business sector will also assist URA in formulating the business structure for the future operation of the project. The Central Oasis project aims to revitalize the former Central Market building as well as providing greenery, a public rest and leisure area and other uses in Central to serve the public community at large. URA’s Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project: Authorization by the Secretary for Development
The Secretary for Development (SDEV) has authorized the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) to proceed with the Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project in Ma Tau Kok, Kowloon. The authorization for the project is given under Section 24 (4) (a) of the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance (URAO) and is published in the Gazette today (Friday). The project was implemented by way of a development project in accordance with Section 26 of the URAO. The implementation notice of the Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project was published in the Gazette on 25 March 2011 under Section 23 of the URAO. It was followed by a two-month consultation period, during which an objection was received and deliberated. Graham Street Market Promotion Commenced
A three-week promotional activity of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has officially commenced today (Tuesday) to enliven the century-old Graham Street Market. Its shoppers and patrons will be rewarded with special gifts when making purchases from operators taking part in the scheme. Over 90 shop and stall operators of the Graham Street Market have joined the scheme, which is the second of its kind after the Double Rewards Scheme launched in December 2010. Result of Expression of Interest for Chi Kiang Street/Ha Heung Road project in To Kwa Wan
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) received a total of 17 Expressions of Interest in the joint venture development project at Chi Kiang Street/Ha Heung Road in To Kwa Wan on the closing date today (Friday). A tender review panel under the URA Board will shortlist the qualified parties and invite them to submit a tender for the joint venture development project. It is expected that the tender exercise will take place in the near future. The project site is about 930 square metres and upon completion is expected to deliver a total gross floor area of about 8,380 square metres for an estimated total of 116 residential units, together with the provision of commercial space of about 1,400 square metres. Invitation for Expression of Interest for Chi Kiang Street / Ha Heung Road development project in To Kwa Wan
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) tomorrow (Wednesday) will invite interested parties to submit Expressions of Interest for the joint development of Chi Kiang Street / Ha Heung Road project in To Kwa Wan. The project site is about 930 square metres and upon completion is planned to deliver a total gross floor area of about 8,380 square metres for an estimated total of 116 residential units, together with the provision of commercial space of about 1,400 square metres. The URA intends to provide about 50% of the total number of residential units in this project with a saleable area of or less than 46.5 square metres, i.e. about 500 square feet. URA starts the seventh redevelopment project in Kowloon City
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) commenced today (Friday) the statutory planning procedures for a new redevelopment project at Kowloon City Road/Sheung Heung Road in Kowloon City. This is the seventh redevelopment project being implemented in the district by the Authority. Outlining details of the new project at a media briefing this morning, Executive Director (Operations & Project Control) of the URA, Mr Calvin Lam, said because of its proximity to the East Kowloon Corridor and the buildings' design and facilities, the living environment of some 280 households is considered very unsatisfactory. AGC Design Limited to design URA's Central Oasis revitalisation project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Thursday) announced that AGC Design Limited (AGC) has been awarded the comprehensive design consultancy contract for its Central Oasis revitalisation project through a public tender exercise. URA welcomes re-appointment of Executive Director
The Board of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today welcomed the re-appointment of Mr Calvin Lam Che-leung as an Executive Director of the URA for another term of three years, effective 11 November 2011. "As one of the Executive Directors of the URA, Mr Lam's vast knowledge and expertise in urban renewal, particularly in the areas of project management and building rehabilitation, are invaluable for advancing our core businesses of redevelopment and rehabilitation under the new Urban Renewal Strategy," said the URA Chairman, Mr Barry Cheung. 25 applications for URA demand-led redevelopment project (pilot scheme) received
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) announced that a total of 25 applications have been received for its demand-led redevelopment project (pilot scheme) upon closing of the application today (Monday). An assessment panel of the URA will review the applications and make recommendation to the URA Board for a decision in November/December 2011. In assessing the suitability of applications for implementation as demand-led redevelopment projects, the aforesaid panel will make sure that they fulfil all the application criteria which include inter-alia that each application is submitted by owners of not less than 67% of the undivided shares in every lot within the site; the building conditions are poor and varied; the size of the site should generally be larger than 400 square metres.
