Responses by URA to Government Motion on Support and Rebuilding Work after the Fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po
In response to the Government Motion on support and rebuilding work after the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, which was tabled at the Legislative Council today (14 January 2026), a spokesperson for the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) stated that the URA has been working closely with the Government to enhance support for building owners and owners’ corporations (OCs) in organising building maintenance projects. With regard to the Government’s proposed measures to further strengthen the URA’s “Smart Tender” service to better assist owners and OCs in tendering and appointing consultants and contractors for building maintenance works, the URA fully supports the initiatives and will carry out detailed study and explore implementation arrangement in collaboration with the Government. URA Issues Acquisition Offers to Property Owners of Sai Yee Street / Flower Market Road Development Scheme
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (8 January 2026) issued acquisition offers to property owners affected by Sai Yee Street / Flower Market Road Development Scheme (the Project*) in Mong Kok. Eligible owner-occupiers of domestic properties of the Project will be offered $15,377 per square foot of saleable area, which is the unit rate of a seven-year-old notional replacement flat situated in the same locality (Notional Unit Rate). In addition, eligible domestic owner-occupiers of the Project will be offered a purchase right of “Flat-for-Flat” unit in the future development to be constructed on the Project site as an additional option to cash compensation. “Flower Market Festival: Coffee Blossoms” Launches, Celebrating the New Year with Discounts from Over 20 Flower Shops and Exclusive Drip Coffee Bags at Hong Kong’s First Flower Market Coffee Fair
To foster youth development and strengthen community cohesion while bringing vibrancy to the Flower Market in Mong Kok, the GDCD Association and the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) are hosting the “Flower Market Festival: Coffee Blossoms” (the Event) on 3 and 4 January from 12nn to 7pm, in the open area outside the Mong Kok Stadium. The Event marks Hong Kong’s first coffee fair themed around coffee and floral artistry in the Flower Market, featuring over a dozen popular local coffee and dessert brands.
