30 Expressions of Interest Received for URA’s Kai Tak Road / Sa Po Road Development Project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) received a total of 30 Expressions of Interest for the development of the Kai Tak Road / Sa Po Road Development Project (the Project) in Kowloon City before the deadline for submission at noon today (12 July 2024). A tender review panel under the URA Board will evaluate the submissions and shortlist qualified developers and consortia based on their development experience and financial capability. The shortlisted developers and consortia will be invited to submit tenders for the development of the Project according to the principal tender terms previously approved by the URA Board. Invitation for Expression of Interest – URA’s Kai Tak Road / Sa Po Road Development Project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will invite developers and consortia to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to develop the Kai Tak Road / Sa Po Road Development Project (the Project) in Kowloon City tomorrow (28 June 2024). The URA initially invited EOIs for the development of the Project in October 2023. After careful consideration of various factors, the URA has decided to schedule the tendering of the Project in the third quarter of this year and, in parallel, enhance the criteria for shortlisting qualified developers eligible to bid for the Project. Due to the time that has elapsed, the URA will once again invite interested developers and consortia to submit EOI for the Project. Building Drainage System Repair Subsidy Scheme Ends after 31 May 2024
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (24 May 2024) announced that the Building Drainage System Repair Subsidy Scheme (the Scheme), launched in 2021 by the Government in partnership with the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), will end after 31 May 2024. To address public concerns regarding issues caused by defective drains during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government announced a funding of HK$1 billion in the 2021-2022 Budget to launch the Scheme. It provides technical and financial support for owners of domestic units of private residential or composite buildings aged 40 years or above to carry out repair and improvement works on the drainage pipes in the common areas of their buildings, thereby improving the building conditions and environmental hygiene. URA Follows up on Vendor’s Cloud Server Platform System Security Incident
In view of the recent online server platform system security incidents involving a cloud server platform provided by an IT services vendor which the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has also subscribed to, it has recently found that some personal data stored on the vendor’s cloud server platform might carry the potential risk of a data breach. The URA has immediately deactivated the vendor’s cloud server platform, deleted the relevant data and reported the incident to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong. URA Issues Acquisition Offers to Property Owners of Nga Tsin Wai Road / Carpenter Road Development Scheme
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (30 April 2024) issued acquisition offers to property owners affected by Nga Tsin Wai Road / Carpenter Road Development Scheme (the Project*) of Kowloon City. Eligible owner-occupiers of domestic properties of the Project will be offered $14,599 per square foot of saleable area, which is the unit rate of a seven-year-old notional replacement flat situated in the same locality (“Notional Unit Rate”). In addition, eligible domestic owner-occupiers of the Project will be offered the choice of a flat-for-flat (FFF) unit in the future development to be constructed on the Project site, or a FFF unit at the URA’s Kai Tak Development Project as an option on top of cash compensation. URA Announces Tender Amounts of Unsuccessful Submissions for Shing Tak Street / Ma Tau Chung Road Development Project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (5 April 2024) announced on an anonymous basis the tender amounts submitted by the conforming but unsuccessful tenderers for the Shing Tak Street / Ma Tau Chung Road Development Project (the Project) in Kowloon City. The URA had earlier invited tender submissions for the Project and announced on 14 December 2023 the award of the development contract. URA Launches New Preventive Maintenance Subsidy Scheme on 1 April
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will launch a new scheme, Preventive Maintenance Subsidy Scheme (PMSS), to motivate owners of residential and composite properties to carry out preventive maintenance for their buildings. The PMSS will open for application starting from 1 April 2024. Preventive maintenance ensures the building components can be properly upkept and includes inspections to enable minor defects to be detected at an early stage such that they can be repaired before deteriorating into major costly problems. Implementing preventive maintenance is crucial for extending the service life of buildings and slowing down the pace of urban decay. Nearly 70% of “Starter Homes” Units at the URA’s eResidence Tower 3 Sold
The URA today (28 March 2024) completed all the flat selection and sales procedures for 260 units at eResidence Tower 3 (Tower 3), a URA Starter Homes for Hong Kong Residents (SH) Project. In early March, the URA invited eligible applicants for flat selection at its Cheung Sha Wan sales office by mail in batches according to the order of their priority numbers assigned previously. As of the closing date (today), 233 qualified applicants had attended the flat selection sessions. A total of 173* (67%) available units were sold, representing a flat selection success rate of 74%. One-bedroom units were the most popular with all 125 units being sold out. 30 two-bedroom units and 18 three-bedroom units were also sold. URA Commences the First Urban Renewal Project under Yau Mong District Study to Implement the Planning Recommendations of Building an Exuberant Commercial District in Mong Kok East
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (15 March 2024) commences the Sai Yee Street / Flower Market Road Development Scheme (YTM-013 Scheme) and proceeds with the relevant statutory planning procedures. The YTM-013 Scheme is the first urban renewal project launched in Yau Tsim Mong District following the completion of the District Study for Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok (YMDS). It fulfils the target, as stated in The Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address, that the URA will commence the redevelopment project of the “Nullah Road Urban Waterway” in Mong Kok East in the coming five years. The YTM-013 Scheme is implemented under the 2011 Urban Renewal Strategy, adopting a “planning-led, district-based” urban renewal approach.
