URA welcomes appointments to the Board
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Friday) welcomes the Government's re-appointment of Mr Victor So Hing-woh as the Chairman of the URA Board, as well as the appointments of three new non-executive directors (non-official) and re-appointments of nine non-executive directors (non-official) to the URA Board, with their tenure ending on 30 April 2019. "I am honoured to be re-appointed Chairman of the URA Board. I am much obliged to the trust that the Government has placed in me, and the opportunity to continue to work with the URA Board in leading the effort to further urban renewal in Hong Kong," said Mr Victor So. Invitation to Tender for Development of Pine Street/Oak Street Demand-led Project in Tai Kok Tsui
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Friday) invited a total of 29 property developers to tender for the development of Pine Street/Oak Street demand-led project in Tai Kok Tsui. Following the expression of interest exercise closed on 6 April 2016, a tender review panel under the URA Board has decided to invite 29 qualified property developers to tender for the project (full list at annex), after taking into consideration their experience and financial strength to undertake the development in accordance with the requirements and criteria set by the Authority. 30 Expressions of Interest received for Development of Pine Street/Oak Street Demand-led Project in Tai Kok Tsui
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) received a total of 30 Expressions of Interest for the development of the Pine Street/Oak Street demand-led project in Tai Kok Tsui when the invitation for submission closed today (Wednesday). A tender review panel under the URA Board will shortlist qualified developers and invite them to submit tenders for the development project soon. The project site covers an area of about 767 square metres. Upon completion, it is planned to provide about 115 residential units with a total residential gross floor area of about 5,754 square metres and 719 square metres of commercial gross floor area. URA commences sale of flats under Subsidised Sale Flat Scheme at Kai Tak development
The Urban Renewal Authority has commenced the sale of flats under its Subsidised Sale Flat Scheme (SSF) at the Kai Tak development. Out of 534 applicants with the highest priority determined by balloting process, only 264 are eligible and have been invited to make the purchase starting from today until Friday (8 April 2016). A total of 19 SSF units, including 4 studio, 12 one-bedroom and 3 two-bedroom flats have been sold today. In compliance with the Residential Properties (First-hand Sales) Ordinance, the URA uploaded the price list of 338 flats to be sold under the SSF Scheme and the sales arrangement applicable to the first 264 eligible applicants on the Kai Tak development's website (www.urakaitak.hk) on 4 January 2016 and 30 March 2016 respectively. Invitation for Expressions of Interest for Development of Pine Street/Oak Street Demand-led Project in Tai Kok Tsui
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will invite interested developers to submit Expressions of Interest for the development of the Pine Street/Oak Street demand-led project in Tai Kok Tsui tomorrow (Wednesday). The project site covers an area of about 767 square metres. Upon completion, it is planned to provide about 115 residential units with a total residential gross floor area of about 5,754 square metres and 719 square metres of commercial gross floor area. Developers interested in the development are requested to substantiate their development experience and financial capability to undertake the development in accordance with the requirements and criteria set by the URA. URA encourages young people to explore urban renewal in perspectives through performing art
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has in the 2015/16 academic year organised a series of learning and outreach programmes to inspire young people to approach urban renewal from different perspectives. The finale of secondary school drama competition cum gala show of the roving drama workshops for primary school students was held at the Youth Square, Chai Wan on 18 March (Friday) with nearly 400 teachers and students participating. The 2015/16 secondary school drama competition, which was in its 6th year, aimed to encourage students to express their creative ideas for achieving a sustainable urban renewal and a better living environment in old districts. URA partners with young people to serve residents in old districts under the Community Service Partnership Scheme
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has partnered with seven tertiary institutions and social service organisations to bring love and care to the residents in old districts in the 2015/16 Community Service Partnership Scheme (CSPS), which is in its fourth year. Through the collaboration with tertiary institutions and social service organisations, volunteer teams comprising URA colleagues and tertiary students have joined hands to serve the residents in the old districts under various programmes arranged by the social service organisations. URA commences one of the largest redevelopment projects in Kowloon City
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Friday) commenced the planning procedure of a Development Project at Bailey Street and Wing Kwong Street in Kowloon City, which is one of the largest redevelopment projects initiated by the URA in recent years. This is the 9th redevelopment project initiated by the URA in addition to a demand-led redevelopment project being carried out in the district. Occupying a site area of about 8,000 square metres, the project involves a number of large building blocks of six to nine storeys without elevator, which were built between 1957 and 1961. URA completed computer balloting for Subsidised Sale Flat Scheme Units at Kai Tak development
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Wednesday) conducted computer balloting to determine the sequence for flat selection for all 12,642 preliminarily verified applications of its Subsidised Sale Flat (SSF) Scheme Units at its Kai Tak development. The computer ballot was jointly officiated by the Chairman of the URA, Mr Victor So Hing-woh, and the Chairman of the Kowloon City District Council, Mr Pun Kwok-wah. The URA received a total of 12,685 applications for the SSF Scheme Units when the application period closed on 21 January 2016. Some applications were cancelled due to duplications or invalid cheques. Of the 12,642 applications, about 65% are single person applicants. URA to launch Building Rehabilitation Facilitating Services (Pilot Scheme)
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will launch the Building Rehabilitation Facilitating Services (Pilot Scheme) in April/May this year to provide technical assistance to Owners' Corporations of private buildings to minimize their potential exposure to tender rigging in carrying out the rehabilitation work of their buildings. The Building Rehabilitation Facilitating Services (Pilot Scheme) is an initiative introduced in response to the Policy Address of the Chief Executive this year.
