Young people inspired and expressed their “Ideal Smart City” through microfilm and drama
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) continued this year with a series of interactive learning and outreach programmes for young people to inspire them to approach and understand urban renewal from different perspectives. To conclude the URA's 2016/17 school programmes, a finale event was held for the secondary school microfilm and drama competitions cum gala show of the roving drama workshops for the primary schools at the Youth Square in Chai Wan yesterday (24 March), with about 400 students participating. With the theme of "Urban Renewal Goes Smart: Your Ideal Smart City", this year's school programmes aimed at encouraging students to express their aspirations for bringing smart elements into urban regeneration either through their creative use of camera lenses or drama performances.

28 Expressions of Interest received for URA’s Fuk Chak Street/Li Tak Street Demand-led Redevelopment Project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) received a total of 28 Expressions of Interest for the Fuk Chak Street/Li Tak Street demand-led redevelopment project in Tai Kok Tsui when the invitation for submission closed today (Monday). A tender review panel under the URA Board will shortlist the qualified developers, taking into consideration their experience and financial capability to undertake the development in accordance with the requirements and criteria set by the URA. The URA will soon invite the qualified developers to submit tenders for the development based on the principal tender terms approved by the URA Board earlier. URA and TWGHs join hands to launch Young Leaders Programme
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has joined forces with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) for the first time to co-organise the "Touching Lives; Reaching Out: Young Leaders Programme" for secondary school students under TWHGs, with an aim to help develop young people's leadership, problem solving and interpersonal skills through coaching on programme management and execution while at the same time encouraging them to explore, care, serve and promote the community. A launching ceremony for the Young Leaders (YL) Programme was held today (Friday), which was officiated by Chief Executive of TWGHs, Mr Albert Su Yau-on, Non-Executive Director of the URA Board, Dr Gregg Li Ka-lok, and Managing Director of the URA, Ir Wai Chi-sing. URA commences a new project in Kowloon City to maximise planning and social benefits in the district
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Friday) commences the planning procedure of the Kai Ming Street/Wing Kwong Street Development Project (KC-013) in Kowloon City with an aim to maximise the planning and community benefits to be brought about by the holistic and district-based approach which the URA has adopted in rejuvenating the district since last year. Situated next to the Wing Kwong Street project (KC-012) commenced in June last year and authorised by the Secretary for Development to proceed as published in the Gazette last Friday (10 March), Project KC-013 is located at Nos. 4 - 28 Kai Ming Street (even number) and Nos. 29 - 33 Wing Kwong Street (odd number) covering a total area of about 1,750 square metres. 市建局卑利街/嘉咸街項目地盤C閣麟街旁的「磚石構件」(傳媒資料) (Chinese version only)
市建局於去年9月8日應邀出席古物諮詢委員會 (古諮會) 會議,向委員講解嘉咸街/卑利街項目 (H18) 地盤C內公共空間內如何融入保育「磚石構件」的設計。由於建議的保育方案需兼顧安全考慮,市建局早前特別委託了獨立土力結構工程師進行勘察及研究。 根據當時土力結構工程師的初步評估報告,有關「磚石構件」用作擋土牆用途的安全系數低於土力結構標準。基於初步的評估報告及可行方案因素,本局當時考慮以重置方式保育構件,把狀況良好的「磚石構件」保留並重置及重塑1900年代地段模樣,以彰顯昔日唐樓「背對背」的城市設計。 及後,本局完成現場抽取土壤樣本及分析。根據獨立土力結構工程師的意見,「磚石構件」的現時狀況的安全系數低於土力結構標準。在符合安全系數的前題下,若將整幅擋土牆原址保留,技術上並不可行。儘管如此,本局了解社會上的訴求,在切實可行下仍繼續探討及研究保育的可行性,深化現時保育「磚石構件」的方案。 綜合各方面考慮因素及工程師的分析及建議,市建局深化去年9月提出的保育磚石構件的方案,以保育融合方案 (integrated preservation approach) 彰顯「磚石構件」的歷史意義,將「磚石構件」融入將來項目內的公共空間,並透過公共空間的設計及融入其他保育元素,立體地將該區的歷史故事展現給社會。 視乎結構及技術可行的進一步研究結果,目前的建議保育融合方案包括 : 考慮原址保留約20米的磚石構件,即約佔全長約34米磚石構件的超過一半; 重置部份狀況良好的「磚石構件」於公共空間,以彰顯昔日「背對背」建築物形態; 融入鋪地設計及其他裝置藝術呈現昔日地段模樣;及 將昔日「背對背」房樓的城市設計和當時民生的歷史資料和圖片在公共空間及部份發展可用面積展示出來,形成一個三維博物館 (walking museum),將「磚石構件」背後的故事展現到現今社會。

URA’s Wing Kwong Street project: Authorisation by the Secretary for Development
The Secretary for Development (SDEV) has authorised the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) to proceed with the Wing Kwong Street redevelopment project in Kowloon City, which is published in the Gazette today (Friday). The project was implemented by way of a development project in accordance with the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance (URAO) and was commenced on 3 June 2016, followed by a two-month publication period, during which written objections were received. The URA had deliberated on the objections and submitted the project to SDEV for consideration on 1 November 2016 in accordance with the URAO. SDEV has duly considered the URA's submission, the unwithdrawn objections and comments, URA's deliberations on the objections as well as URA's assessment on the likely effect of the project.

Invitation for Expressions of Interest for Development of URA’s Fuk Chak Street/Li Tak Street Demand-led Redevelopment Project
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will invite interested developers to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the development of the Fuk Chak Street/Li Tak Street demand-led redevelopment project in Tai Kok Tsui tomorrow (Wednesday). The project site, which covers an area of 768 square metres, was commenced in June 2013 under the second round of the URA's Demand-led Redevelopment Projects (Pilot Scheme). It is tentatively scheduled for completion by 2020/2021, upon which it is planned to provide about 96 residential units with a total residential gross floor area of about 5,103 square metres and 637 square metres of commercial gross floor area. URA’s Hung Fook Street/Kai Ming Street project: Authorisation by the Secretary for Development

Sino Land Company Limited wins development contract of URA’s Peel Street/Graham Street Project (Site A)
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Wednesday) announced that Cheer View Holdings Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sino Land Company Limited, has won the contract for the development of Site A of the Peel Street/Graham Street project (the Project). The URA earlier invited a number of qualified property developers to submit tenders for Site A of the Project following an Expression of Interest exercise. The URA received a total of 22 tenders when the submission of tender closed on 20 February 2017. After careful deliberation, the URA Board considered that the tender offer made by Sino Land Company Limited has met the tender requirements of Site A of the Project and thus decided to award the development contract to Sino Land Company Limited. Property acquisition for Man On Street/Tai Kok Tsui Road demand-led redevelopment project to start soon
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will soon issue conditional acquisition offers to property owners affected by the Man On Street/Tai Kok Tsui Road demand-led redevelopment project in Tai Kok Tsui, which was under the fifth round of the demand-led redevelopment project (pilot scheme), following its commencement in December 2016. Eligible owner-occupiers of domestic properties of Nos. 8 - 30 Man On Street (even numbers) and Nos. 193 - 199 Tai Kok Tsui Road (odd numbers) will be offered $13,391 per square foot of saleable area which is the unit rate of a notional replacement flat of seven years old situated in a similar locality ("Notional Flat Unit Rate").
