URA’s first demand-led redevelopment project in Sham Shui Po achieves major breakthrough
The first demand-led redevelopment project of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) in Sham Shui Po has achieved a major breakthrough with more than 80 percent of the owners agreeing to sell their properties to URA within the 60-day offer period expiring today (Monday), said the Chairman of the URA, Mr Barry Cheung. At a media conference this afternoon reviewing the implementation of the pilot scheme on demand-led projects, Mr Cheung said the stipulated 80 percent threshold for the project was attained after much hard work by both the property owners and the frontline staff of URA in the past two months. URA Chairman leads volunteer staff to clean up Lamma Island beach
市區重建局(市建局)義工團隊今日(星期六)早上到南丫島索罟灣協助清理膠粒及海灘垃圾。 由市建局職員及家屬組成的義工隊,一向關懷社會,定期走進舊區探訪長者和居民。義工們今早初試啼聲,由市建局主席張震遠率領,到南丫島索罟灣為海灘「洗邋遢」。他們帶備筲箕、手套和鐵桶等工具,清理海灘上不同類型的生活垃圾,包括玻璃碎片、發泡膠、膠樽、棉被和石油氣罐等。 張震遠在清理過海灘垃圾後表示:「當政府有關部門、團體及市民自發到香港多處清理在颱風後散落在海灘、海上及養魚區的大量膠粒時,其實香港海灘上長期堆積著很多生活垃圾,並沒有得到妥善處理,這個問題值得大家深思。」 市建局義工隊希望透過參與海灘清理行動,可幫助減低膠粒散落和海灘垃圾對香港自然環境的影響。 (完)

Invitation to tender for development of Sai Yee Street project in Mong Kok
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Friday) invited a total of 18 property developers to tender for the joint development of Sai Yee Street project in Mong Kok. The project, with a site area of about 2,478 square metres, is bounded by parts of Sai Yee Street, Nelson Street and Fa Yuen Street and situated in or near the cluster of sports retail outlets in Mong Kok. Upon completion, it is expected to deliver a residential gross floor area of 17,346 square metres providing about 290 residential units. The URA plans to provide about 50% of the total number of residential units in this project with a saleable area of or less than 46.5 square metres (i.e. about 500 square feet). URA and HKHS launch subsidy scheme to support mandatory building inspection
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) and the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) today (Tuesday) announced the launch of a scheme which will provide financial and technical assistance to eligible building owners selected under the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS). Executive Director (Operations & Project Control) of the URA, Mr Calvin Lam, said: "To dovetail the implementation of the MBIS by the Buildings Department (BD), URA and HKHS join hands again to launch the Mandatory Building Inspection Subsidy Scheme (MBISS) with the aim to help owners comply with the new statutory requirements by subsidising the cost of the first building inspection under the MBIS." "URA and HKHS have long been providing assistance and support to owners of old buildings to improve their living conditions.

URA welcomes appointment of Secretary for Development
香港特別行政區政府今天(星期一)公布陳茂波先生獲委任為發展局局長,市區重建局主席張震遠表示歡迎。 張震遠表示:「陳茂波先生擁有豐富的管理經驗、立法會經驗,以及公職經驗。市建局相信他的經驗有助市建局在『以人為先、社區為本、與民共議』三大理念下,加快擴大市區更新工作。」 張震遠期望市建局與陳局長合作,落實新《市區重建策略》的新猷,以及政府交付的新任務,例如工廈重建,以改善香港舊區居民的居住環境,釋放市區土地,改善規劃,裨益社會。 (完)

Eighteen Expression of Interest Submissions for Development of Sai Yee Street Project in Mong Kok received
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) received a total of 18 Expressions of Interest for the development of Sai Yee Street project in Mong Kok when the invitation for submission closed today (Monday). A tender review panel under the URA Board will shortlist qualified companies and invite them to submit tenders for the development. The tender exercise will take place in the near future. The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will invite interested parties to submit Expressions of Interest for the development of Sai Yee Street (dubbed as Trainers Street) project in Mong Kok beginning next Monday (16 July 2012). The project with a site area of about 2,478 square metres is bounded by parts of Sai Yee Street, Nelson Street and Fa Yuen Street or situated in the junction near the cluster or critical mass of sports retail outlets in Mong Kok, one of the key districts where redevelopment, rehabilitation and revitalisation initiatives of the Authority are being actively carried out. URA’s Kowloon City Road/Sheung Heung Road project: Authorisation by the Secretary for Development
The Secretary for Development has authorised the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) to proceed with the Kowloon City Road/Sheung Heung Road project in Ma Tau Kok, Kowloon City District. The authorisation for the project is given under Section 24 (5) of the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance (URAO) and is published in the Gazette today (Friday). The project was implemented by way of a development project in accordance with Section 26 of the URAO. The implementation notice of the Kowloon City Road/Sheung Heung Road project was published in the Gazette on 25 November 2011 under Section 23 of the URAO. URA issues offer letters to owners affected by a demand-led redevelopment project in Sham Shui Po
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Wednesday) issued conditional acquisition offers to property owners affected by one of its three debut demand-led redevelopment projects commencing in early April this year. Eligible owner-occupiers of domestic properties affected by the demand-led project at 229A-G Hai Tan Street in Sham Shui Po are being offered $8,830 per square foot of saleable area, which is the unit rate of a notional seven-year old flat. The conditional offer was endorsed by the Land, Rehousing and Compensation Committee of the URA Board last week. The URA offer letters have spelt out details of the conditional offers to owners of 58 property interests who will then have 60 days to consider and accept the offer. Property acquisition for a demand-led redevelopment project in Sham Shui Po to start soon
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) is going to issue conditional acquisition offers shortly to property owners affected by one of its three debut demand-led redevelopment projects commencing in early April this year. The compensation policy is same as that of the URA's self-initiated projects.
