URA Ma Tau Wai Road/Chun Tin Street Project: Authorization by the Secretary for Development
The Secretary for Development (SDEV) has authorized the Urban
Renewal Authority (URA) to proceed with the Ma Tau Wai Road/Chun
Tin Street project in Tokwawan, Kowloon.
The authorization for the project is given under section 24 (4)
(a) of the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance (URAO) and is
published in the Gazette today (Friday).
The project was implemented by way of a development project in
accordance with section 26 of the URAO. The implementation notice
of the Ma Tau Wai Road/Chun Tin Street project was published on the
Gazette on 24 February 2010 under section 23 of the URAO. It
was followed by a two-month consultation period.
In accordance with section 24(3) of the URAO, the Ma Tau Wai
Road/Chun Tin Street project was submitted to the SDEV on 20 May
2010.
Covering an area of about 3,377 square metres, the project area is
bounded by Ma Tau Wai Road, Hok Yuen Street and Chun Tin Street.
The buildings within the project area were built between 1955 and
1957, ranging between 4 to 6 storeys in height.
The URA plans to provide smaller flats to the mass housing
market. Over 400 residential units with an average flat size
of less than 50 square metres will be built.
Other special features of this project include re-creation of the
existing retail street frontage along Ma Tau Wai Road and Hok Yuen
Street by low-rise retail structure, provision of about 1,000
square metres for Government, Institution and Community (GIC)
facilities use and around 500 square metres at grade open
space/amenity areas which would help improve streetscape and air
ventilation.
In accordance with section 28 of the URAO, any objector who
considers to be aggrieved by the decision of SDEV may appeal on or
before 17 January 2011 by lodging a notice of appeal with the
Secretary to the Appeal Board Panel, with a copy to the SDEV.
