The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (10 June 2022) welcomes the Government’s re-appointment of Ir Wai Chi-sing as Managing Director of the URA for a term of three years with effect from 15 June 2022. It also welcomes the appointment of Ms Carolin Fong Suet-yuen as Executive Director, also for a term of three years, starting from 3 October 2022. Ms Fong will take up the position of Executive Director (Operations), overseeing the work on building rehabilitation, acquisition and clearance, works and contracts, and legal matters.
In expressing his support to the re-appointment of Ir Wai, Chairman of the URA, Mr Chow Chung-kong said, “Over the past six years since taking office as Managing Director of the URA, Ir Wai has demonstrated strong leadership and professional expertise in leading the URA team. He initiated a ‘planning-led’ approach in redevelopment which led to the commencement of several large-scale projects. He promotes technology and innovation to enhance work efficiency and effectiveness. A number of strategic studies were also completed with the aim to meet challenges facing sustainable urban renewal work in Hong Kong. These are all significant achievements.
Meanwhile, I would like to welcome Ms Carolin Fong to join us as Executive Director of URA. Ms Fong is a professional architect who has extensive experience in project management, especially in promoting green designs and construction for buildings. We look forward to seeing Ms Fong bring new ideas and implementation model to the work of URA, in particular, in fostering its long-term sustainable development.”
Mr Chow and the URA Board look forward to working closely with Ir Wai and Ms Fong in furthering the important task of urban renewal with the objective to improve the standard of housing and built environment in Hong Kong.
