Random assignment of priority numbers completed URA to vet applications for “Starter Homes” Pilot Project in late March
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Thursday) conducted a random assignment of priority numbers (random assignment) for its “Starter Homes” (SH) Pilot Project, named “eResidence”. All 20,878 applications were randomly assigned a priority number.
The random assignment was jointly officiated by the Chairman of the Kowloon City District Council, Mr Pun Kwok-wah, and the Director (Property & Land) of URA, Mr Bruchi Nam Chi-kwong. A total of ten numbers were each drawn by Mr. Pun and Mr. Nam to form a ten-digit seed number which was input into a computer programme for randomly assignment of priority numbers to applicants. The entire process was witnessed by Mr Libra Fung of Lui & Mak Certified Public Accountants.
The list of assigned priority numbers has been uploaded to the eResidence’s website (https://www.eresidence.hk/en/search.php), where a search function is available to enable applicants to check their assigned priority number by entering their application number. The URA has earlier notified applicants of their application numbers by post. The URA will issue letters to all applicants notifying their assigned priority numbers within three working days.
The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has been commissioned by the URA to vet the applications. Starting in late March, the URA will issue another letter to invite applicants, in the order of the priority numbers, to an interview with HKHS on a specified date. During the interview, applicants should submit supporting documents such as income and asset proofs, as stated in the application guide, for verification and confirmation of their eligibility.
The URA plans to invite eligible applicants in batches for flat selection from June 2019 onwards. A group of 10 applicants will be invited to each of the flat selection session. Priority will be given to family applicants in which the first six invitees of each session will be drawn from the family applicants category, and the remaining four invitees of the session will be drawn from the single applicants category, according to their respective priority numbers.
The exact dates for flat selection will be announced later by the URA in the Sales Arrangements, uploaded to the eResidence’s website (www.eresidence.hk) and the Sales of First-hand Residential Properties Electronic Platform (www.srpe.gov.hk) in accordance with the Residential Properties (First-hand Sales) Ordinance. Applicants may also call the enquiry service hotline at 2363 2283.
