URA’s Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project: Authorization by the Secretary for Development

The Secretary for Development (SDEV) has authorized the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) to proceed with the Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project in Ma Tau Kok, Kowloon.

The authorization for the project is given under Section 24 (4) (a) of the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance (URAO) and is published in the Gazette today (Friday).

The project was implemented by way of a development project in accordance with Section 26 of the URAO. The implementation notice of the Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project was published in the Gazette on 25 March 2011 under Section 23 of the URAO.  It was followed by a two-month consultation period, during which an objection was received and deliberated.

In accordance with Section 24(3) of the URAO, the URA submitted the Pak Tai Street/San Shan Road project  to the SDEV for her authorisation on 25 August 2011.

The project area occupies a corner site abutting Pak Tai Street in Ma Tau Kok, covering an area of about 1,280 m2.  Built in 1957, the 12 street numbers of buildings within the project area are in a generally poor condition. The buildings are of 8 storeys with no lifts and there are unauthorized rooftop structures.

The URA's initial proposal is to redevelop the site to provide about 130 residential units with flat sizes of around 35 square metres to 65 square metres, with completion tentatively scheduled for 2018/2019.

In accordance with Section 28 of the URAO, any objector who considers to be aggrieved by the decision of SDEV may appeal on or before 13 February 2012 by lodging a notice of appeal with the Secretary to the Appeal Board Panel, with a copy to the SDEV.

A plan delineating the boundary of the project with a general description is available for public inspection at:
