URA welcomes re-appointment of Executive Director
The Board of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Monday) welcomed the re-appointment of Ms Iris Tam as an Executive Director of the URA for another term of three years, effective 1 September 2012.
"As one of the Executive Directors of the URA, Ms Tam has played a significant role in helping to devise the implementation framework for the new initiatives stipulated in the new Urban Renewal Strategy," said the URA Chairman, Mr Barry Cheung.
"Her extensive knowledge and expertise in urban renewal, particularly in the areas of town planning, sustainable development and urban renewal project management, are also invaluable assets to the URA to advance its core businesses of redevelopment and rehabilitation. Her reappointment is conducive to the smooth continuation of the work of the URA, in particular at a time when new initiatives, including the pilot scheme of redevelopment of industrial buildings are being undertaken to speed up the pace of urban renewal in Hong Kong," Mr Cheung added.
On her re-appointment, Ms Tam, a seasoned professional in town planning, said she was very honoured by the re-appointment and would continue to serve the community for its overall benefits. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my work at the Authority and look forward to working closely with the URA Board, the Management team and all staff, the Government, Legislative Council, District Councils, and all other stakeholders in meeting challenges in the years ahead," Ms Tam added.
