URA welcomes appointment of Daniel Lam Chun as interim Managing Director

The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) today (Friday) welcomes the Government's appointment of Mr Daniel Lam Chun as Managing Director of the URA for an interim period of 10 months with effect from 15 June 2015. Meanwhile, an open recruitment exercise for the URA Managing Director post has kicked off.

The Chairman of the URA, Mr Victor So Hing-woh, said: "Mr Lam has been a non-executive director of the URA Board appointed by the Government since 2008, giving his wise counsel and guidance to the Authority in carrying out its mission over the years. With his wealth of experience and profound knowledge, I am confident that his standing in would be conducive to the smooth operation of the URA."

On his appointment as interim Managing Director, Mr Lam, a registered professional building surveyor, said he was very honoured by the appointment, and was committed to continuing to serve the community in his new capacity.

"I am grateful that the Government has entrusted me with the job, and in particular the trust that it placed in the URA Board. I look forward to working closely with the URA Board, the management team and all staff members, the Government, especially the Development Bureau, Legislative Council, District Councils, and all other stakeholders, in undertaking urban renewal in the interest of the Hong Kong community," said Mr Lam.

During his term as non-executive director, Mr Lam was the Chairperson of the Ad-hoc Committee on New Strategies set up under the URA Board to review the challenges and the way forward for urban renewal in Hong Kong. He was also the Chairperson of the Development Project Objection Consideration Committee of the URA Board and former Chairperson of the Wan Chai District Advisory Committee of the URA.
