Wan Chai Heritage Trail
Wan Chai is one of the earliest settlements in Hong Kong, and still possesses heritage and buildings of different periods. In response to the CE's 2007 Policy Address to promote local characteristics and the conservation of heritage buildings, the Development Bureau has established the Old Wan Chai Revitalisation Initiatives Special Committee (OWRISC), to propose various revitalisation initiatives. The OWRISC comprises Wan Chai District Council members, professionals and historians, with the Urban Renewal Authority as the secretariat. The Wan Chai Heritage Trail pamphlet presents the local culture and history of Wan Chai by highlighting the distinctive architectural character of selected buildings and places.
The term for the OWRISC has ended on 14 February 2012. During the term, the OWRISC has implemented and initiated various revitalization and enhancement works, including the Tai Yuen Street/Cross Street Market Revitalisation Works, Wan Chai Heritage Trail, Architectural Feature Lighting, Private/Public Partnership Initiatives with Swire Properties for the Revitalisation of the St. Francis Street/Star Street District.
