Community Service Partnership Scheme

Community Service Partnership Scheme

The URA has launched a community service partnership scheme (CSPS) as a platform for collaboration with universities and NGOs to serve the underprivileged groups in the old districts through volunteer services, while at the same time promote service learning among young people. We have been helping to improve the living environment of the old districts through our core businesses in redevelopment and building rehabilitation. Our staff is dedicated to working for the well-being of the residents in these dilapidated areas, and hope to contribute more to the community through this scheme. Since 2012, the Scheme has partnered with universities and NGOs and has accumulated a total of more than 2,000 volunteers. The team served the community for more than 15,000 hours through different activities.

Upcycling Project
In an effort to enhance the living environment of residents in old districts, the Upcycling Project gathers volunteers from the URA, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong to create tailor-made furniture for low-income families using upcycled wood materials. Additionally, the project also provides decluttering services to families, assisting them in tidying up and reorganising their living spaces to maximise the available area.

Elderly Health Project
To promote mental well-being and offer psychological support to elderlies, the URA teamed up with students from tertiary institutions and a group of retirees to line up a series of social activities for the elderlies residing in elderly homes located in Sham Shui Po district. The project has also introduced gerontechnology into the elderly homes, aiming to enhance their overall operation and environments.
